About Charlie
Charlie Keegan James (He/They/She) is an NYC-based actor, singer, comedian/improviser, playwright, and dedicated nerd.
On the stage, she has been featured as King Henry VI in the play of the same name (Director Michael Hagins), Cedric/Mr. Voldy in Puffs (Proxymoron Productions; Queen City Nerve’s Best Local Theatre Production, Best in the Nest 2022), and Tilly in She Kills Monsters (Charlotte’s Off-Broadway; Queen City Nerve’s Best Comedic Theatrical Production, Best in the Nest 2022). He is a prolific cabaret performer, seen at 54 Below 4 times in 2024, including Actor Therapy Sings The Prom, 54 Sings Hatchetfield, and 54 Rolls For Initiative.
Charlie was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor (Female) and won Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2022 Metrolina Theater Awards for their work in the Charlotte theater community.
Since 2023, Charlie has been narrating audiobooks, bringing fantasy and sci-fi universes alike, including stories from the iconic Battletech universe. (You can see the full library of Charlie’s work over on the “Voiceover” Page!)
Outside of performing, Charlie’s greatest love is Dungeons and Dragons and all TTRPGs. One of their biggest dreams is to join the lucky few who get to play TTRPGs for large audiences. He made his long-form TTRPG streaming debut in Sword and Key’s Journey to Book’s End as Bonny Janet.
Charlie graduated from Christopher Newport University with a B.A in Musical Theatre and a Minor in Dance. They are a major advocate for better representation of the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalized groups on the stage. More than anything else though, Charlie loves to make people laugh!
“Charlie was SUCH a powerful presence in the intensive and in many ways centered the rest of the class (the younger and older students). Charlie was so open during the intensive, game to try anything, and always excelled in whatever they chose to do. Charlie’s voice is extremely strong and their acting chops are in a great place. At 23, Charlie has a mature energy that draws us in. They are extremely self-aware and exude confidence. We know if Charlie continues giving 100%, they will go VERY far in this business!”
